Job Description
Core staff must enjoy working with schoolaged children. They are responsible for planningand implementing activities interacting with children and their families working independently as well aswith a team and creating an enriching fun and safe environment that meets all licensing and schoolregulations. The Core Staff must have a positive attitude and serve as a role model for participants in theprogram.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Afterschool Core Staff shall meet or exceed the following qualifications:
Be at least eighteen years of age andhave a high school diploma or equivalent
Ability to work at least 3 days a week from 2:15 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday Tuesday Thursday and Friday. Wednesday 1:15 p.m. 5:30 p.m.
Maintain a high level of attendance arriving on time being ready to work following protocol when absent
Ability to effectively manage challenging student behaviors
Ability to demonstrate excellent communication with parents staff and coworkers
Ability to be flexible take initiative and be open to feedback
Ability to effectively collaborate with all schoolday and afterschool program staff members
Knowledge of safety principles and practices as they apply to group activities and as outlined in the Vermont SchoolAge Care license
Experience with direct interaction with children in teaching caregiving or service delivery.
Experience working with diverse populations
Knowledge of a variety of recreation and leisure activities and group games
Hold current first aid or willing to be trained within 60 days
Enthusiasm patience creativity and a desire to work with children
Ability to pass a criminal record and background check
