Special Education Evaluation Coordinator @ Central Special Education

Purpose:
Supports and supervises Educational Diagnosticians and/or Licensed Specialists in School Psychology (LSSPs). Monitors the evaluation process including referral evaluation and educational recommendations.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Masters degree in a related field
- Valid Diagnosticians Certificate or Licensed Specialist in School Psychology license
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of federal and state special education rules and regulations
- Knowledge of best practices in evaluation process
- Knowledge of recommended strategies and interventions for students in special education including specially designed instruction
- Ability to monitor and assist Educational Diagnosticians and/or LSSPs in evaluation development of IEPs and facilitation of ARD meetings
- Ability to supervise coordinate and collaborate with staff in accordance with duties
- Effective communication human relations and leadership skills
- Proficient in use of digital tools including Google Suite Microsoft 365 ARD/IEP Software and Learning Platform Management Systems
Experience:
- Three 3 years of experience as Diagnostician/LSSPThree 3 years of experience as Diagnostician/LSSP
- Experience planning and presenting professional development sessions
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Program Management
- Keep abreast of developments in special education assessment and inform Director of any changes related to the evaluation process.
- Conduct training to keep district assessment staff knowledgeable about changes best practices and new developments regarding assessment/evaluation and compliance issues.
- Provide direct supervision of the Diagnosticians and LSSPs.
- Ensure professional and personal accountability among assessment staff.
- Assign assessment support to campuses using current and historical data to ensure equity of assignments.
- Develop and maintain data collection system to provide real time data regarding number of assessments completed by staff (i.e. FIEs Initial Psychological REEDs MDRs attended etc..
- Monitor State Performance Plan Indicators 11 and 12 to ensure compliance of initial evaluations.
- Screen and arrange for outside and independent referrals and evaluations.
- Facilitate prepare and present staff development for assessment staff and coordinate these sessions with Aliefs Professional Development Department (when applicable) and include Speech Pathologists (when applicable) as well as required or requested professional learning for district community and state.
- Assist with development and revision of procedures/guidelines/practices for assessment staff related to evaluative procedures.
- Attend administrative team meetings for special education.
- Attend staffings and ARDs when requested by Director.
- Participate in recruiting interviewing and hiring of assessment staff.
- Coordinate summer assessment services.
- Serve as resource to district and building personnel.
- Serve as a liaison for Independent Educational Evaluations.
- Coordinate services to building when assessment staff member is absent for an extended period of time.
Other
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
- Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise and evaluate staff as assigned.
Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of Professional Supervisor Personnel.
