Job Description

General Summary:

Lead Lot Attendant is responsible for maintaining vehicle inventory and lot appearance. Additionally the Lead Attendant is responsible for moving and cleaning vehicles and assisting the management team as requested. The Lead Attendant is responsible for the direction of all Porter and Attendant staff. These activities shall be conducted while delivering the highest level of customer service in accordance with Findlay Volkswagens purpose statement and standards for excellence. The Lead Lot Attendant may also be responsible for various other tasks that may be associated with lot and building maintenance. This position is considered nonexempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Reports to: Fixed Operations Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Keeps service vehicle parking neat and orderly moving cars and clearing debris in accordance with dealership display standards.
  • Ensure dealerships facility is neat and orderly empties trash receptacles clears debris and informs management of maintenance concerns.
  • Drives vehicles to and from service lanes service stalls and parking lots as needed.
  • Completes technical test drives as necessary
  • Transports vehicles to auction sites marketing events storage lots dealer trade locations et cetera.
  • Ensure the doors of all vehicles and buildings are locked.
  • Ensures back entry gates are locked and secured as required.
  • Ensure all vehicles on dealer lots have mandatory window stickers and alert the sales management team immediately if not.
  • Take the initiative to exceed customer satisfaction even if it requires overcoming obstacles.
  • Ensures that each customer encounter is consistent with Findlay Volkswagen core values.
  • Ensure that customer complaints or concerns are immediately turned over to members of the management team to ensure they are handled tactfully promptly and according to the dealerships guidelines.
  • Providing porter and attendant staff with purpose and daily tasks to ensure a clean and safe working environment.
  • Provides porter and attendant staff with schedules and fills in when there are shortages.
  • Ensures that all management tasks are handled in a timely manner consistent with the best business practices.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Clean driving record and ability to drive both automatic and manual transmission vehicles.
  • Valid Nevada drivers license
  • Clear background check
  • Ability to pass preemployment Federal drug screen
  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and/or experience

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job the Attendant is regularly required to stand. It will be required of the Attendant to stand outside on a hard concrete surface for extended periods of time. The employee frequently is required to walk. The Attendant is occasionally required to sit. Attendants must be ambulatory enough in order to access vehicles and maneuver around vehicles to ensure cleanliness etcetera. Some bending stooping and stretching may be necessary.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those attendant encounters while performing the essential functions of this role. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this role the Attendant is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions including (but not limited to) summer heat and winter cold. It will at times be necessary for the Attendant to access vehicles that are extremely hot due to sun exposure. The noise level both on the dealerships lot service workshop and showroom will vary based on level of activity in and around these locations. Although the interior of the dealership is air conditioned there may be times when the temperature is warmer or colder inside based on the frequency with which building doors are opened and closed. Attendants may be subject to loud noises and the presence of exhaust fumes from vehicles. Attendants will be exposed to chemicals used as part of the detail process. Attendants will frequently be in and out of customer and company vehicles.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

The Lead lot Attendant role is a fulltime position. Overtime may occur on high sales traffic days. Attendants will be scheduled off every Sunday in alignment with dealerships hours and at least one additional weekday per week. The additional weekdays may vary to accommodate the dealerships staffing needs. Attendants may be required to work all holidays apart from Thanksgiving and December 25th each year. Additional schedule flexibility may be required. Most of the Attendants duties and expectations must be completed onsite at Findlay Volkswagen Henderson.
