CRISIS INTERVENTION SPECIALIST
Location: Salem OR 97304
Night Shift Differential: $2.50
Signon Bonus: (night shift) $1000 (Internal candidates that are currently employed here at NWHS are not eligible for a signon bonus.
Referral Bonus: (night shift)$500 (Referral bonus expire at the close of this job posting)
Northwest Human Services (NWHS) is seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our Crisis & Information Hotline Team. This vital role within our 24/7 program offers immediate crisis intervention resources and support to individuals in urgent need. As a Crisis Intervention Specialist youll play a key role in helping individuals navigate some of their most challenging moments. By providing immediate lifeaffirming support youll empower clients to regain stability and connect them to critical mental health resources and services.
Shifts: Shifts are determined by call volume trends and operational needs.
Shift Types: This position is part of a 24/7 program and coverage is needed across all hours. Shifts may include:
- Day Shift: 8:00 AM 4:00 PM
- Swing Shift (Afternoon/Evening): 4:00 PM 12:00 AM
- Night Shift (Overnight): 12:00 AM 8:00 AM
- Weekend and Holiday Shifts as needed
- OnCall or Rotating Schedules may apply based on team needs
YOUR ROLE:
Crisis Intervention Specialists provide 24hour crisis intervention suicide prevention risk assessment and brief supportive counseling over the phone to clients who are experiencing emotional distress suicidal ideation and/or seeking information on available mental health services. The Crisis and Information Hotline answers all calls made to 988 in Marion and Polk counties and acts as afterhours crisis support for multiple community partners. Crisis Intervention Specialists provide crisis intervention risk assessment screening safety planning followup support and advocacy based on clients assessed needs. Candidates must be eligible to obtain/maintain a QMHAR level certification. Certifications MHACBO
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in social work or behavioral health sciences field or combination of at least three years relevant work education training or experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of an integrated team.
- Demonstrated ability to use appropriate problemsolving and decisionmaking skills while working with individuals who may be very escalated or experiencing acute crisis.
- Understanding of TraumaInformed Care models.
- Demonstrated ability to practice selfreflection
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Work some holidays and weekends.
- Remote work may be required but this is not a fully remote position.
- Due to the nature of the position there are no scheduled lunch breaks. As a 24/7 program the role requires flexibility in managing breaks and meals during shifts. Employees are expected to remain oncall for client support throughout their shift.
