The role
SoFi is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced writer/editor hybrid to help support production of our personal finance newsletters. Our flagship newsletterOn the Money cuts through the noise of daytoday financial news to bring you a more thoughtful point of view on whats important to your bottom line. Our team plans to launch more newsletters in 2025 and this role will be a key contributor to both OTM and future series.
Reporting to the Senior Managing Editor on the SoFi Content team the Newsletter Editor will be responsible for writing and editing articles about the economy investing financial products and more. We are a missiondriven team that cares deeply about financial literacy and helping people fulfill their ambitions. The ideal candidate is an experienced editor who is equally capable of writing researching factchecking and embracing the technical aspects of assembling a newsletter.
Candidates with at least three years of experience editing for a toptier personal finance newsletter or outlet are preferred. This is a fulltime contract position.
What youll do
- Edit stories: You will support our small but mighty team of writers at every stage (i.e. ideation making structural suggestions getting into the weeds of a line edit etc..
- Write stories: This includes identifying newsworthy trends and topics researching to develop expertise on the fly and delivering polished compelling copy. You will have an opportunity to leverage AI responsibly and creatively to drive story development and accelerate and enhance our workflow.
- Support the editorial pipeline: You will be responsible for nurturing and producing high quality stories that educate inform and inspire our audience. As a writer and editor this includes making sure that everything we publish is wellwritten thoughtful 100 factual objective and compelling (with bonus points for funny).
- Collaborate and cooperate: Putting out a newsletter is a team sport and you will need to cultivate great relationships with writers other editors our compliance team and crossfunctional partners from across the organization. Good news: theyre all great!

- Ideally you have experience publishing personal finance content working with financial products and services and collaborating with legal and compliance functions.
