Job Summary

Performs journeyman level work in the fabrication and installation of wooden cabinets shelves moldings and related fixtures. This entrance level class lies below that of Millshop Carpenter Foreperson.

Essential Functions

carpentry work related to building and repair of cabinets and related items.

blueprints diagrams sketches or drawings cuts materials assembles installs and finishes cabinets shelves and related items.

3. Cleans sharpens and repairs hand and bench tools.

applicable records.

pickup truck as necessary for outside work.

6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Probation:Six 6 months

Qualifications

Open Requirements:Four 4 years of cabinet making experience and/or related millshop carpentry work. Time spent in an approved apprenticeship program for this class may be counted toward the experience requirements. A valid Florida drivers license is required prior to appointment and must be maintained during employment in this class.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Thorough knowledge of the tools methods and practices of cabinet making
• Knowledge of the safety rules and regulations involved in the use of power tools involved in such work
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precaution
• Strong skills in the care and use of tools and equipment used in the millshop carpentry trade
• Basic oral written and interpersonal communication skills
• Basic word processing and database software skills
• Ability to work from sketches blueprints diagrams and drawings
• Ability to set up and use millshop machinery
• Ability to estimate time and material requirements
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle
