Summary
Under the general direction of the Resource Person the Licensed Nursing Assistant 2 / Health Unit Coordinator is responsible for a variety of clerical and administrative tasks for the department as well as direct and indirect patient care which includes Activities of Daily Living ADL) and personal care needs.
CH Surgical Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate LNA. The preop/postop LNA will assist in preparing patients for surgery and providing postoperative care ensuring comfort safety and a smooth recovery process.
Key responsibilities include:
Assisting patients in preop preparations including changing into surgical gowns and ensuring comfort monitoring and supporting patients in recovery take and record vital signs ensuring patient rooms and surgical areas are clean stocked and organized providing mobility support assisting with patient transport to and from surgical areas providing emotional support and reassurance to patient and family. Our LNAs are also trained to do phlebotomy EKGs and point of care testing.
We are looking for someone who has strong attention to detail the ability to multitask excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fastpaced environment and as part of a team.
Hours
Monday to Friday rotating between 62:30 and 8430
Education
High school or GED preferred.
Required: Proof of LNA Education Certificate and Final Report of Written and Clinical Competency Testing Results (as required by NH Board of Nursing).
Certification Registration & Licensure
Certification required: Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification or equivalent course credentialed by American Heart Association.
Licensure required: Current New Hampshire Licensed Nursing Assistant.
Experience
One year related experience required and/or training in health care environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Responsibilities
Coordinates patient and information flow at the desk area to clinical staff patients/families and other
departments.
Under the general direction of the RN performs a variety of clinical and technical functions for the preop
and postop patient.
Completes order entry process coordinates computer downtime and coordinates patient information
changes in the computer.
Greets the patient and family and provides information or direction in preparation for their surgical
encounter.
Receives delegated work adhering to the five rights of delegation.
Documents care provided and reports to the RN observations of patients physical social and mental
status and basic patient data collected.
Demonstrates time management skills.
Prepares and/or organizes and/or disassembles the patient perioperative medical records for charts
according to HIMS specifications.
Helps ensure a clean safe environment with appropriately stocked supplies and functioning equipment.
Demonstrates adherence to safe patient handling policy.
Serves as a preceptor for new employees.
Performs job specific requirements and other duties as assigned.
