If you like being on the forefront of product development and improvement we have an exciting opportunity for you to join the team at our Sanford NC facility as a Design Engineer on the Compact Track Loader (CTL) team! In this critical role you will have design responsibility for components such as hose routings bracketry systems layouts. This position will be heavily focused on ensuring that current and new CTL Chassis designs are optimized for cost and quality within the local and global manufacturing supply base. You will partner with design manufacturing and supplier development engineers throughout the product development lifecycle.

What You Will Do:

  • Design and validation of components and systems for Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) projects and New Product Introduction (NPI) programs.
  • Collaborate with both local and global suppliers to reduce product cost develop robust tooling and bring designs into full production.
  • Coordinates product tests with prove design and prototype build up and test areas.
  • Provides guidance to other engineers responsible for portions of the product project to ensure development schedules are met.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to ensure designs can be safely and consistently assembled in a high velocity production environment.
  • Clearly communicate design requirements through engineering drawings.
  • Take part in or lead design reviews with the wider design team.
  • Product maintenance and support.

What You Have (Basic Qualifications):

  • Degree requirement: Bachelors degree in Engineering.
  • Technical Excellence:
    • Proven experience in the design and validation of components and systems for heavy machinery or similar products.
    • Understanding of engineering principles and practices particularly in the context of product development and improvement.
    • Proficiency in CAD software and engineering drawing standards.
  • Managing Multiple Priorities:
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously ensuring timely completion and adherence to development schedules.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fastpaced highvelocity production environment.
  • Effective Communication:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly convey design requirements and collaborate with crossfunctional teams.

Top Candidates Will Have:

  • Experience with the following:
    • Teamcenter Engineering to release product designs.
    • CPPD APQP PCM and design releasing experience.
    • Hose design.
    • Heavy equipment design and operation.
    • Heavy and/or light fabrications.

Additional Info:

  • Caterpillar requires employees to work onsite in the office five days a week.
  • Willingness to travel up to 510 international and domestic.
  • Domestic relocation is available for those who qualify.
  • ISE assignments are not available.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available.

Summary Pay Range:

$95640.00 $143520.00
