Position Summary:

The Electrical Controls Technician (ECT) is a specialized Electrician skilled in industrial control applications and CADbased electrical drawing. In the municipal water and wastewater industry the ECTs duties include surveying existing motor control cabinets and instrumentation creating detailed electrical drawings for control panels and ensuring their integration with field equipment. Additionally the ECT is responsible for installing wiring and starting up the completed panels. Although this role does not involve programming PLCs it demands a strong understanding of electrical systems drycontact control loops 420mA analog signals and the physical integration of equipment with PLCs. The ability to interpret and document technical specifications and requirements is essential.

This role will be based out of our Melbourne FL office and will require regular travel to customer sites at times requiring overnight and out of state travel. When not at customer sites you will be office based in Melbourne. You are provided with a company vehicle and specialized tools to perform in this role.

Job Duties:

  • Develop detailed electrical drawings schematics and diagrams of industrial control systems for project submittals based on the projects quoted materials and labor.

  • Collaborate with engineers project managers and other stakeholders to understand project objectives and requirements.

  • Review technical documents blueprints and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards and regulations.

  • Select appropriate electrical components equipment and materials when integration with control systems deviates from initial design.

  • Execute Product Acceptance Tests (PATs) on panels as they are produced and work SCADA Controls Technicians (SCTs PLC programmers) to resolve any issues discovered.

  • Assist installation crews as needed with installation of panels and their enclosures.

  • Terminate wiring from field devices to control panels and test operation. In some instances termination or modification may need to be performed on the field equipment as well.

  • Fully document the completion and startup of the panel at the customers location and update project drawings and documentation to an asbuilt status.

  • Troubleshoot network digital and 420mA analog control and monitoring circuits.

Job Requirements:

  • 1 years of Controls Electrical Experience

  • Analog Sigal Handling experience strongly preferred.

  • Experience as an electrician and electrical draftsperson preferably in public utility manufacturing or industrial environment.

  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD BricsCAD) for creating electrical drawings and ladderstyle schematics.

  • Understanding of electrical principles circuits and components commonly used in industrial control systems.

  • Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulations (e.g. NEC NFPA) pertaining to electrical design and installation.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in creating and reviewing technical drawings and documentation.

  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Problemsolving abilities and the capacity to troubleshoot electrical issues and discrepancies in drawings.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours overtime as needed and travel to various job sites as needed to meet project requirements and deadlines

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in electrical engineering electronics or a related field is preferred.

  • Drivers license with clean insurable driving record.

Physical Demands:

  • Body Positions: Includes standing sitting walking lifting (up to 60 lbs) talking and hearing safety alerts.

  • Work will be a combination of indoors in a temperaturecontrolled environment and job sites outdoors in hot or cold temperatures.

  • Typical office environment noise level is low to moderate though hearing protection and other personal protective equipment will be required on some job sites.
