POSITION TITLE: PreTeam Swim Coach
DEPARTMENT: Athletics
REPORTS TO: Aquatics Manager
FLSA: NonExempt
COMPENSATION: $20 $25 per hour depending on experience
POSITION PURPOSE:
A PreTeam Swim Coach should be a strong leader attentive organized and have strong communication skills. A pre team coaches responsibilities include but are not limited to teaching advanced skill levels to a large group breakdown of all 4 competitive strokes as well as open/ flip turns and communication with class all participants.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Under the supervision of the Aquatics Manager and in accordance with Country Day mission and values the Preteam instructor is responsible coaching the pre swim team according to the Country Day program standards.
- Create a positive learning environment through personal enthusiasm.
- Teach correct technique of all 4 competitive strokes turns and starts.
- Be safetyconscious maintain order and enforce rules during lessons to ensure swimmer safety.
- Use swim aids effectively to maximize each individuals practice time.
- Biweekly meetings (or more) with the aquatics supervisor to review practice plans.
- Participate in all staff meetings and inservice training.
- Conduct program evaluations.
- Carries out additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Previous swim coaching experience is required and must enjoy working with children and have a positive fun personality.
- Must present a professional mature image and have excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Position requires walking squatting pushing (up to 50 lbs) pulling (up to 50 lbs) use of sight and vocal projection standing carrying (up to 50lbs) and lifting (up to 50 lbs)
- Competitive swim team experience needed.
Requirements:
- Must successfully complete instructor training to create an understanding of the curriculum
- Must successfully complete and maintain certifications as deemed necessary by the aquatics manager.
- Must successfully complete at least 4 hours teaching under the direct supervision of the Aquatics Manager or an experienced instructor before leading a class independently
