Job Description

Position Summary

Green River College is seeking candidates for a fulltime tenuretrack position in professional writing beginning in the fall of 2025. This position will primarily teachENGL&235: Introduction to Technical Communication andENGL 335: Advanced Technical Communication with the possibility of teachingENGL 109: Writing for Trades and Career/Technical Degrees and other courses depending on college and student needs.

The successful candidate will have the option to teach and participate in job duties remotely/virtually for the first quarter (through December 2025. The candidate is expected to maintain some campus presence in teaching and service starting in January 2026.

Green River College has four locations including the main campus in Auburn with satellite learning centers in Kent downtown Auburn and Enumclaw. Green River programs serve high school graduates Running Start students (dual enrollment in local high schools and the college) those seeking retraining for the workforce international students students learning English as a second language and Continuing Education students. Green Rivers service areas are increasingly ethnically diverse comprising African Americans African immigrants Asian Americans Asians Latinx people Native Americans Pacific Islanders and Middle Eastern Americans among other communities.

Curriculum Vitae and Cover Letter

  • Experience contributing to program development (special projects program or project management etc.
  • Demonstratedinclusive leadership practiceswhether in the classroom or professionally
Portfolio or Writing Samples
Please provide 23 concise samples that show how youve created deliverables for specific audiences purposes and rhetorical needs. Please include a short paragraph explaining how your samples content meet the specific needs of particular users.

Types of Deliverables Wed Like to See 12 pages maximum per sample)
  • We are looking for technical documentation video walkthroughs or related deliverables that show these skills.
  • These can include user guides instructions job aids marketing communication or professional communication that demonstrates the above.
  • In your portfolio please aim to demonstrate the following:
    1. Universal design (accessible deliverables that are perceivable operable understandable and robust for all users)
    2. Current understanding of industry best practices regarding document design
