The University of Nevada Las Vegas invites applications for Associate/Journey IT Project Manager Information Technology (HYBRID AVAILABLE) R0146783.

ROLE of the POSITION

Associate IT Project Manager

The Associate IT Project Manager plays a key support role within the Office of Information Technology (OIT) at UNLV primarily assisting in the management and coordination of IT projects throughout their lifecycle. Under the direction of the Director of IT Operations the Associate IT Project Manager helps ensure that the universitys IT projects are executed efficiently within scope on time and within budget. This position provides essential operational and administrative support to the IT Project Manager including the tracking of project progress managing documentation assisting with resource allocation and maintaining the project portfolio management system. The Associate IT Project Manager helps facilitate the smooth of projects ensuring that internal and external stakeholders are informed and that processes are followed in accordance with the universitys standards.

This position plays a crucial role in the ongoing improvement of project management processes contributing to the overall success of IT initiatives at UNLV. By supporting larger strategic initiatives and providing handson project management support the Associate IT Project Manager helps ensure that OITs operations remain aligned with both institutional goals and industry best practices.

Customer Service Expectations: This position is responsible for maintaining a customerfocused approach in all duties ensuring professional timely and effective interactions with internal and external stakeholders. To provide excellent service the employee will: listen to customers and understand their needs; help customers solve problems; demonstrate an eagerness to help; exhibit a professional disposition; be approachable respectful and teamoriented; take ownership of inquiries and assignments; provide updates for customers; and be familiar with the basic operations of the university in order to understand customer needs better.

Journey IT Project Manager

The IT Project Manager supports technical teams utilizing UNLV IT project management processes and systems. This position is responsible for overseeing the administration of the project portfolio management system including developing templates creating workflows budget allocation and tracking and designing dashboards. This position requires a broad knowledge of project management processes including agile and waterfall techniques. The system supports a widerange of projects from both the Office of Information Technology (OIT) and distributed groups. Therefore the person in this position must manage multiple customer expectations by employing clear communication and problemsolving skills.

Working with the Director of IT Operations the IT Project Manager assists technical managers in implementing approved project processes on all projects. This position contributes to the continuous improvement of IT service delivery by standardizing project management processes and integrating them with other UNLV efficiency efforts. The IT Project Manager has oversight responsibility for coordinating information for all projects ensuring that project documentation accurately reflects the scope schedule costs resource requirements and current status of all projects.

In addition to administration and development responsibilities the IT Project Manager is responsible for improving the usability of the portfolio system. The incumbent coordinates system changes with staff responsible for the ticketing system and external stakeholders. The individual establishes procedures for upgrading patching and regularly evaluating any issues identified. The incumbent must employ critical prioritization effective timemanagement and project management skills to effectively balance competing responsibilities including maintenance and operational tasks (troubleshooting issues or incidents) new development project manager training and strategy for the unit. The incumbent will oversee projects with budgets from $50000 MM with various timelines.
