Job Description

Located in Ithaca N.Y. The Department of Clinical Sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University invites applications for two faculty positions (clinical track or tenure track) in the Section of Diagnostic Imaging. The Section includes two tenuretrack and two clinicaltrack faculty members with the goals of supporting robust preclinical and clinical research programs providing excellent clinical/diagnostic services in the Hospital and maintaining a strong teaching and outreach program. The successful candidates would join a section of four boardcertified radiologists supported by seven experienced licensed technicians (LVT and RT) five imaging residents and a fulltime biomedical engineer working in a comprehensive stateofthe art teaching and referral hospital. Approximately 13000 imaging examinations are performed annually.

Diagnostic imaging equipment in the Cornell University Hospital for Animals includes two multiplate AGFA CR readers two wireless DR detectors a Phillips RF special procedures room a flatpanel Ziehm Carm for intraoperative imaging a Toshiba Vantage Atlas 1.5 T MR and a 16 slice Toshiba AquilionLB CT both equipped for small and large animal examinations a planar gamma camera linked to a MIE computer isolation facilities for radioiodine therapy and two ultrasound units (Phillips Epiq and iU22 with 5 transducers each and elastography capability. The Imaging equipment is integrated via DICOM modality worklist through the medical record system and images are archived and viewed with Carestream PACS including both diagnostic and browserindependent web software (PC Mac iPad). Integrated 3D software is included. Multiple diagnostic workstations are equipped with dual 2 or 3 MP monitors.

The teaching hospital provides a diverse and challenging small exotic and large animal caseload and is wellequipped and supported for clinical research. Extensive opportunities for independent and collaborative research exist at the Veterinary College and throughout the University including Weill Medical College and technology campuses in New York City. Candidates with a special interest in equine diagnostic imaging can find unique opportunities for developing their clinical and research interests at our satellite equine referral hospital (Cornell Ruffian Equine Specialists) on the backstretch of the Belmont racetrack. Candidates with a small animal focus can develop consultation arrangements and collaborative research opportunities with the collegeowned and affiliated small animal specialty emergency and referral practice in Stamford Connecticut (Cornell University Veterinary Specialists).

Candidates must have a degree in Veterinary Medicine. Board certification in Veterinary Radiology (ACVR or ECVDI) is preferred but candidates who have recently completed an approved residency in Veterinary Radiology will be considered.

Distribution of effort in the Section and Department will be determined in accordance with the service needs academic priorities and the candidates expertise and academic goals in diagnostic imaging. Flexible/nontraditional work schedules will be considered to meet individual needs to attain work/life balance. Clinical teaching and service in the Cornell University Hospital for Animals lecture and laboratory instruction of veterinary students and house officers and independent and collaborative research are negotiable.

Clinical duties require flexible working hours that may include daytime evening and weekend responsibilities. The candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively with all of the sections in the Hospital.

Salary rank and title will be commensurate with academic credentials and experience.
