Contract Type: Permanent
Working Hours: 37 hours per week
Worker Type: Hybrid Worker
Salary: Starting Salary is 44711 (Level one) rising to 47754 (Level four) per annum (pro rata for parttime)

About the Role
Reporting to the Highway Design Manager there are 3 posts available for roles which will lead on Highway Design for major programmes focusing on the assessment coordination and management of work activities design resources and programmes. The successful candidates will lead in the delivery of transportation and highway priorities within the Highway Design Service ensuring projects within the team are run efficiently and within agreed deadlines and costs and are focused on citizen outcomes. This will include the effective management of third party design resources including checking and approval of design packages supporting in one or more of the following key design areas:
- Active Travel including walking & cycling infrastructure
- Public Transport
- Roadspace Transformation & wider LTP portfolio
- Highway Maintenance & Area based improvements (ACF)
- Highway Structures & Bridges
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- An engineering related degree or equivalent work experience
- Engineering or transport design related work experience
- Knowledge of designer duties required by the CDM regulations and current practice in project management principles
- Experience of leading new and innovative highway design solutions across a diverse range of specialist subjects and issues relating to the highway network
- Has a wide knowledge and working experience of current practice for the design construction and successful delivery of highway and other civil engineering schemes
- Has taken the lead in supervising and managing professional staff in a proactive technical work environment and an ability to deal effectively with criticism or complaints from a wide audience to improve service delivery
- Skilled in resource management when delivering successful highway programmes and projects
