A fast growing South Korean brand convenience store with more than 80 outlets across Malaysia.

Manager Food Development and Merchandising Job Overview

Expected to lead the innovation and growth of the RTE food category in the company This role requires a unique blend of culinary expertise food technology/science knowledge and datadriven decisionmaking to develop new food concepts analyze market trends and optimize product offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Product Innovation & R&D

Develop new readytoeat (RTE) and convenience food items tailored to market trends and consumer preferences.

Work closely with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure highquality product development.

Optimize existing recipes and improve production efficiency.

2. Sales & Data Analytics

Analyse sales performance consumer trends and competitor insights to identify opportunities for growth.

Conduct GAP analysis to pinpoint potential food categories and market expansion areas.

Develop datadriven product development hypotheses to improve sales and customer engagement.

3. Merchandising & Market Expansion

Collaborate with the marketing and operations team to ensure seamless product launches.

Develop innovative pricing positioning and promotion strategies.

Identify and implement food trends that align with Korean and local consumer preferences.

4. Quality & Compliance

Ensure all products meet food safety regulations quality standards and cost parameters.

Work with suppliers and production teams to maintain consistent product quality and supply chain efficiency.

Requirements:

1. Educational Background:

  • Bachelors degree in Culinary Arts Food Science Food Technology or a related field.

2. Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in R&D chef roles food production R&D or food development within the F&B or retail sector.

3. Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of food production processes product formulation and ingredient functionality.
  • Familiarity with Korean and local food trends is a plus.

4. Analytical Skills:

  • Experience in sales data analysis market research and product performance evaluation.

5. Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Ability to work with crossfunctional teams vendors and stakeholders.

6. ProblemSolving:

  • Strategic mindset with a passion for innovation and product development.
