As a Maintenance and Utility Technician youll be the backbone of our production team keeping essential equipment running smoothly and ensuring that everything from food processing machinery to refrigeration ventilation and wastewater systems stays in top shape. Your handson expertise will help maintain a safe efficient and highquality production environmentbecause great products start with wellmaintained equipment!
Accountabilities:
The ideal Maintenance and Utility Technician possesses a strong technical skill set and a proactive approach to equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. This role requires expertise in mechanical electrical and refrigeration systems along with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues efficiently.
Strong troubleshooting skills are essential for diagnosing mechanical and electrical failures identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime and optimize system performance.
Ownership of equipment reliability is demonstrated through proactive preventive and predictive maintenance extending the life cycle of critical assets and reducing unplanned outages.
A deep understanding of electrical systems including wiring diagrams schematics motor controls and PLC troubleshooting ensures quick resolution of issues related to automation and process control.
Expertise in mechanical systems including motors gearboxes pumps and solenoids allows for efficient repair and maintenance of plant equipment.
Experience with refrigeration systems particularly ammoniabased systems is preferred ensuring compliance with safety regulations and operational efficiency.
Attention to detail is critical for ensuring repairs are completed to specification preventing recurring failures and maintaining production efficiency.
The ability to work in a fastpaced environment requires adaptability and quick decisionmaking when responding to emergency breakdowns and process disruptions.
Strong communication skills facilitate effective collaboration with maintenance teams production staff and supervisors to ensure alignment on repair priorities and system improvements.
A commitment to safety and quality ensures adherence to regulatory requirements proper use of personal protective equipment and of maintenance activities in accordance with industry standards.
A continuous improvement mindset drives the identification and implementation of enhancements to equipment reliability energy efficiency and overall plant performance.
Qualifications:
Education & Certification High school diploma or equivalent required; a twoyear technical college degree in industrial maintenance electrical or mechanical fields is preferred. Industrial Maintenance Mechanic and/or State Mechanical Journeyman certification is highly desirable.
Technical Expertise Minimum two years of experience working with food processing or industrial manufacturing equipment troubleshooting and maintaining mechanical electrical pneumatic and hydraulic systems in a production environment.
PLC Troubleshooting Proficiency in Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) troubleshooting including diagnosing automation and control system failures to support plant operations.
Experience Using CMMS Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for tracking work orders preventive maintenance schedules and equipment history to improve reliability and efficiency.
Refrigeration & Control Systems Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems is preferred. Strong understanding of industrial control systems including solenoid valves motor controls temperature sensors and overload protection devices.
Blueprint & Electrical Schematic Proficiency Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics wiring diagrams and blueprints for troubleshooting and repairs.
Safety & Compliance Strong commitment to OSHA regulations food industry safety standards and preventive safety measures including lockout/tagout (LOTO) confined space protocols and PPE requirements for industrial settings.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements Ability to work in a physically demanding environment including frequent walking bending squatting kneeling and climbing stairs. Comfortable working in tight spaces high temperatures or cold environments as required by plant conditions. Must have personal hand tools necessary for jobrelated maintenance tasks.
Communication & Teamwork Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to work effectively with maintenance teams production staff and supervisors. Ability to clearly document repairs and maintenance activities while mentoring junior technicians and providing technical support to colleagues.
Skills:
Mechanical Maintenance & Repair Proficiency in operating troubleshooting repairing and maintaining various food processing equipment including motors gearboxes pumps and pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
Electrical Systems Knowledge Strong understanding of industrial electrical components including wiring motor controls solenoid valves overload protection devices and temperature sensors.
PLC Troubleshooting Ability to diagnose and resolve issues related to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) to support automation and process control systems.
CMMS Proficiency Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for tracking work orders scheduling preventive maintenance and documenting equipment history.
Refrigeration & Ammonia Systems Knowledge of refrigeration systems with experience in ammoniabased systems preferred including troubleshooting and routine maintenance.
Reading Blueprints & Schematics Ability to interpret and work from mechanical electrical and piping schematics wiring diagrams and technical manuals to effectively troubleshoot and maintain equipment.
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Understanding of maintenance best practices to increase equipment reliability reduce downtime and optimize system performance.
Emergency Repairs & Troubleshooting Ability to respond to urgent breakdowns in an efficient and systematic manner ensuring minimal disruption to production operations.
Safety & Compliance Strong commitment to OSHA regulations food industry safety standards and best practices for hazard prevention including lockout/tagout (LOTO) confined space entry and PPE requirements.
Quality Process Knowledge Familiarity with McCain Continuous Excellence (MCE) principles and adherence to quality control processes within a manufacturing environment.
Work Order & Documentation Management Ability to maintain accurate records of repairs maintenance activities and system adjustments for reporting and compliance purposes.
Technical Communication & Team Collaboration Strong interpersonal skills to coordinate with team members provide technical expertise and support crossfunctional collaboration within the maintenance and production departments.
Physical Stamina & Adaptability Ability to work in a physically demanding environment including frequent walking bending squatting kneeling and climbing stairs as well as working in tight spaces and temperaturecontrolled areas.
Tool Proficiency Must have own set of tools and the ability to safely and effectively use them for mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks.

Compensation Package:$34.55 $35.10USD hourly bonuseligibility
The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience skill set education/training and other organizational needs.
Shift Differential Pay: $1.75
