The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) Alaska Army National Guard Facilities is recruiting for two
Maintenance Specialist Electrician Journey 2 team members!
This position is in theLabor Trades and Crafts (LTC)bargaining unit at a Wage Grade 51.

What You Will Be Doing:
Joining Army National Guard Facility Maintenance (ARNG) you will become a part of a ready valuable team of professionals who are trained to meet the needs of our state and its citizens. This role plays an integral part of our team to ensure the direct digital controls (DDC) security and fire alarms are maintained for various National Guard facilities. You will also be assisting with the review of construction electrical specifications and blueprints working with contractors to inspect and plan electrical upgrades.

ARNG is proudly located on Joint Base Elmendorf/Fort Richardson (JBER) surrounded by the natural beauty of the Arctic Valley where you can enjoy a threemile paved walking / jogging trail and have access to both an onsite caf and fitness center at the Army National Guard Armory. You will be able to work and enjoy recreation alongside uniformed soldiers and other state employees to accomplish our mission while maintaining a healthy worklife balance.

Who We Are Looking For:
In addition to the minimum qualifications the ideal candidate will possess the following competencies:
  • Electrical: Knowledge of electrical equipment components instruments and systems including their design installation testing uses repair or maintenance.
  • Technical Problem Solving: Troubleshoots diagnoses analyzes and identifies system malfunctions to determine the source and cause of the problem.
  • Mechanical: Knowledge of machines and tools including their designs installation uses repair and maintenance.
  • Project Management: Knowledge of the principles methods or tools for developing scheduling coordinating and managing projects and resources including monitoring and inspecting costs work and contractor performance.

The successful applicants must pass a federal background check in order to qualify for military base access which is required with this positions work location on base. The background check may include fingerprinting. All job offers are conditional pending successful completion of the federal background check and issuance of a Defense Biometrics Identification System (DBIDS) card allowing base access. Also you must be able to maintain the clearance throughout your employment. If using a private vehicle this will require a valid Alaska Driver License proof of vehicle insurance and a valid State of Alaska vehicle registration.
State employees are guests on Joint Base ElmendorfRichardson; clearance and access is not within the States control.

Special Note:In addition in some cases employees must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC). As part of the examination process a background check investigation including a criminal records check will be conducted. Conviction of a crime will not automatically preclude appointment. The circumstances involved in the conviction will be considered.
