Duties And Responsibilities
The duties below are representative of the duties of the classification and are not intended to cover all of the duties performed by the incumbent(s)of any particular position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the scope of work is similar related or a logical assignment to this classification. Nursing Instructors provide clinical instruction in the acute longterm and community care and virtual settings Implement skill building in the nursing lab setting Manage courses which entail leading a faculty team planning for the course and involved logistics etc. Consult with students during regularly scheduled office hours Participate and collaborate in a nursing team department and division meetings; including but not limited to curriculum development updates and revisions Develop and maintain competency with various software programs purchased for the department Perform other duties as required by contract collective bargaining agreements and general institutional needs
Minimum Qualifications
Masters or above in nursing OR Bachelors in nursing AND Masters or above in health education or health science OR the equivalent (see below) OR the minimum qualifications as set by the Board of Registered Nursing whichever is higher A current California Registered Nursing license At least one years continuous experience within the previous five years as a registered nurse providing direct patient care (Clinical teaching applies toward direct patient care) Demonstrated cultural competence sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds as well as sexual orientation and abilities of community college students faculty and staff
Preferred Qualifications
Recent experience working with racially minoritized and other disproportionatelyimpacted students in the classroom and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion of these groups within higher education and particular fields shape patterns of participation and outcomes Willingness to examine and remediate ones instructional relational and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized and other disproportionately impacted students Experience and skill with addressing inequity in the classroom and on campus Experience and expertise in culturallyresponsive teaching in nursing Demonstrated ability to address equity gaps within nursing courses and classrooms Demonstrated knowledge of the implications of the HispanicServing Institution designation for institutional departmental and instructional practices
