Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Associates degree is required.
Bachelors degree is preferred.
Certifications/Licenses
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association is required upon hire.
Active and valid ASCP certification or comparable national certification at hire or eligible to sit for professional lab certification within 6 months of hire.

Position Summary
Performs routine laboratory tests in various sections of the laboratory.
Reports to: Director of Laboratory
Responsibilities of the Position
Performs common testing procedures and reports test results.
Performs instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
Performs quality control testing.
Maintains supplies needed for performance of tests.
Prepares and sets up equipment testing compounds and work area in support of clinical laboratory activities.
Maintains cleanliness and sterilization of work area equipment utensils and glassware according to departmental procedures and sanitation standards.
Prepares samples/specimens to be tested and labels them for accurate identification.
Performs manual and/or automated tests and experiments in support of diagnostic or research activities.
Interprets results correctly and reviews with and reports results to appropriate personnel (e.g. supervisor pathologist and physicians).
Monitors testing equipment solutions and work environment to ensure accuracy of tests and procedures and employee safety.
Draws blood according to order and processes according to procedure.
Other tasks and duties as assigned.
