Responsible for the design of engine or transmission components subsystems and systems from concept through production in order to achieve the product objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for all design activities related to system/subsystem/component function with emphasis on quality timing and cost:
Prepares system/subsystem/component design.
Concept design of engine or driveline and transmission systems sub systems and components
Performs or oversees appropriate analysis to determine design suitability (e.g. DFMEA FEA).
Leads/contributes to design reviews with stakeholder groups.
Liaises with owners of interfacing systems and components.
Selects appropriate manufacturing methods for components and leads supplier DFM discussions.
Prepares 3D models and detailed drawings for their designs.
Supports the validation and development process (DVP&R .
Supports problem resolution for supplier manufacturing test and field problems.
Coordinates internal or external work to support the design process where required.
Supports run at rates (RARs) visits at supplier locations when required. Coordinate mentor and supervise designers and engineers (PT design CAE and others)
Ownership of complex components/subsystems/systems/programs.
Handles multiple programs concurrently.
Guides team members with Subject Matter Expert knowledge.
Guides powertrain/drivetrain system integration into the chassis.
Leads and facilitates peer teams for Knowledge Management
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
RequiredB.S.M.E. in Mechanical Engineering Agricultural Engineering or equivalent
5 years minimum related design experience in an O.E. Environment 3 years minimum with an M.S. degree; title commensurate with competence
8 years of significant component manufacturing and application experience
Requiredexperience with a 3D CAD modeling package PTC Creo preferred.
Experience with one or more portions of transmission or base engine design:
System Engineering and requirements management experience
GD&T FMEA DVP&R and tolerance analysis experience
Good strategic vision and product knowledge
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
High level of people skills able to influence in a positive manner
Able to work and lead in a team environment.
Continual focus on innovation quality and process improvement
The pay range for Minnesota is $90000 to $119000 per year. Individual salaries are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education experience knowledge skills and geography.
