School nursing is a specialized practice of professional nursing that is accountable for the wellbeing academic success and lifelong achievement of students. To that end school nurses facilitate positive student responses to normal development; promote health and safety; intervene with actual and potential health problems; provide case management services; and actively collaborate with others to build student and family capacity for adaption self management selfadvocacy and learning. Assures proper assessment and care for student visitors for all emergent urgent and nonurgent injury and sudden illness situations to include administration of medications and medically prescribed interventions and treatments per orders from health care with students families and staff to write Individual Health Medication and Emergency Care Plans and contribute to other plans 504 IEP) as medical records with accurate and precise record and implements all state mandated programs such as immunization surveillance/compliance and school health and coordinates medical needs for all field trips/fieldwork as needed. Assesses provides basic treatment and referral as requested for staff and visitors to include providing and/or completing staff injury/incident report records and reports for local regional and statewide needs as and manage a comprehensive school health program consistent with the Massachusetts guidelines regulations and with the administrative team responsible for monitoring and responding to infectious illness outbreaks in the with school personnel in establishing and maintaining sanitary conditions in the school directions and assistance to substitute school duties as required.
