Starr Regional Medical Center is currently seeking talent to fill the position of Nurse Tech 2 for our MedSurg Department. This job is permanent full time.

Core competencies include but are not limited to the following:
- Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN including monitoring vital signs possibly taking blood glucose measurements and recording intake and output.
- Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living including but not limited to bathing grooming eating and ambulation.
- Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
- Assists with keeping patient rooms and common areas stocked clean and orderly.
- Performs continual surveillance of multiple monitors.
- Reads telemetry test strips and places them in the patient charts at required intervals.
- Identifies significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervenes appropriately.
- Identifies and corrects for artifacts.
- Reports abnormal assessment and telemetry findings or changes in patient physical mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
- Tests equipment for proper working order. Reports equipment problems to supervisor.
- Greets patients and visitors. Answers screens and routes telephone calls. Calls codes pages and overhead announcements as requested.
- Enters nursing requests and orders subject to the approval of a licensed nurse. Asks for clarification when necessary.
- Assists with processing patient admissions transfers and discharges. Assembles and maintains patient records and charts.
- Performs needed clerical tasks including copying filing and ordering/stocking supplies.
- Assists RNs and physicians with other patient activities as needed.
Minimum Education
HS Diploma GED or equivalent work experience:
