Job Description

Title: Adjunct Instructor Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Education (Pool)

Institution:Jackson State Community College

Job Summary

This position is responsible for delivering quality instruction using integrative technologies.

Job Duties

  • Teach courses via on ground as assigned. Teach evening offcampus and distancebased courses as required.
  • Post grades during the term for student feedback and submit final grades for each semester by the deadline established by the Registrar.
  • Complete required College trainings and complete all required reports such as attendance Early Alerts progress reports grade submissions and administer and return surveys by the required deadlines. Advise the Program Chair or Dean at the earliest possibility if you are unable to teach a class. Attend meetings as requested by the Program Chair and/or Dean. Comply with all the Colleges and TBRs policies and guidelines. Other duties as assigned.
  • Regularly check your JSCC email and your departmental mailbox. Respond to emails/messages within 48 hours except on the weekend.
  • Submit class syllabus or update department syllabus at least 2 weeks prior to the first day of class or within seven days of the of contract.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants much have a minimum of an associates degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning. Must have certification as an Instructor/Coordinator in the State of TN. Must be licensed as a Paramedic in TN; Paramedic licensure must be free from revocation denial or suspension.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors Degree from a regionally accredited institution. Supervisor or management experience. Prior teaching experience.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Knowledge and/or experience using a variety of instructional delivery modes. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty staff and student population. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Pay Rate: $600 per credit hour

Availability/Closing Date: This posting is not a guarantee of an open position. Applications for adjunct positions are accepted on a continuous basis and reviewed by the department when openings become available. Future teaching assignments are on a termbyterm basis which may include fall spring and summer. Postings close yearly on October 31; to maintain your application within the system you will need to reapply each year.
