Job Description
The University of Iowa Health Care department of Food & Nutrition is seeking a Clinical Dietitian II to use Nutrition Care Process to assess evaluate and provide Medical Nutrition Therapy and nutrition counseling for patients in program areas as assigned at our North Liberty Medical Campus.
Provides quality patient care including nutrition screening evaluation assessment treatment and documentation of patient care plan appropriate for complex patients.
Assesses nutritional status and instructs/counsels on appropriate diet.
Participates as active member of departmental/hospital committees concerning problems affecting patients food habits and needs.
Participates in health team rounds and shortterm projects.
Participates on Clinical Masters selection committee. Educates students with onthejob training. Evaluates students. Provides students with necessary support and assistance to ensurework is completed.
Educates/trains new personnel as assigned and acts as a mentor to new personnel.
Conducts peer chart reviews/audits for Dietitian I.
Seeks opportunities to enhance ones own professional knowledge skills and developmentincluding research for publication/presentation lead monthly CEU program for dietitian staff obtain advanced credentialing serve as a clinical resource to peers.
Functional supervision is exercised over Diet Clerks.
Maintain effective working relationships with faculty staff students and the public.
The new University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Campus will open in the Spring of 469000 square foot facility will be home to UI Health Cares nationally recognized Orthopedics service line offering comprehensive coordinated and accessible care across the outpatient inpatient and surgical venues. Minimum Eligibility Requirements
- Masters Degree in Food and Nutrition or Dietetics or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5 years of clinical nutrition experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Demonstrated competency of patient care in pediatric adult and geriatric populations across a wide range of medical conditions in the inpatient and outpatient setting
- Experience in making enteral and parenteral recommendations and selecting appropriate formulas
- Must demonstrate experience working effectively in a diverse environment
Certifications
- Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required
- Licensure by the State of Iowa is required
