Life Enrichment Partner

STATUS: NonExempt hourly fulltime30 hours or more per week

REPORTS TO:Life Enrichment Coordinator

General Summary:

The Life Enrichment Partner is responsible for supporting the overall planning and implementation of therapeutic activities designed to meet the physical social emotional and spiritual needs of all Independent and Health Center residents (Aspen & Cedar & Monterey Place).

Primary Job Duties:

  1. Lead a variety of activities as scheduled on the monthly calendar. With supervisor permission can be changed to allow for spontaneity in the schedule.
  2. Create and coordinate publication of the Community newsletter according to community branding standards.
  3. Along with assistance from the Life Enrichment Coordinator update and maintain Touchtown (any/all resident electronic communication as applicable) with all current events daily activities occurring within the community.
  4. Assists with planning coordinating activities: Cognitive physical social activities; reminiscence creative arts discussion groups; sensory stimulation cultural activities religious services entertainment community outings special events and individual visits as indicated in conjunction with the Life Enrichment Coordinator.
  5. Ensure resident attendance in programs reflect their personal interests or as recommended by the Life Enrichment Coordinator or member of the care plan team.
  6. Actively engage all residents throughout sessions utilizing various techniques such as calling their name verbal prompting and physical prompting. Know resident history to include nonverbal residents in discussion groups.
  7. Assist with maintaining the transportation daily schedules for trips medical appointments circuits resident outings etc.
  8. Provide one to one activities or visits as scheduled which relate resident interests as determined from the activity assessment (Targets residents who choose not to attend group programs on a regular basis.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School degree required. Certification and/or minimum of three 3 years experience in a social or recreational program in a licensed health care setting preferred. Background in dementia programming preferred. Basic computer knowledge with Microsoft Office is necessary and ability to learn electronic medical record processes. Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skill are required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Frequent standing stooping bending stretching squatting for approximately 60 of work day. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to push residents weighing up to 250 lbs. in gerichairs and/or wheelchairs. Must be able to read and speak English hear and be able to sit and walk intermittently throughout the day. May be exposed to communicable diseases HIV and Hepatitis B viruses industrial and household chemicals offensive odors and combative behavior.

Salary range: $16.50 $18.00 an hour based on years of experience and certification)
