Job Description

The Department of Neurology at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle is hiring two pediatric epileptologists to join the Division of Pediatric Neurology at Seattle Childrens Hospital. These positions will include EEG reading epilepsy consultations and outpatient clinics. Responsibilities will also include shared supervision of adult and pediatric neurology residents. Positive factors for consideration include but are not limited to experience in epilepsy surgery neuromodulation or ICU neuromonitoring.

The Pediatric Neurology Division at Seattle Childrens Hospital provides comprehensive treatment and diagnostic services for children in the WWAMI (Washington Wyoming Alaska Montana and Idaho) region. Seattle Childrens is a 364 bed hospital with 44 PICU 32 NICU and 20 Cardiothoracic ICU beds. The Division of Neurology currently includes 30 faculty members with a range of specialty interests who lead multiple subspecialty programs. We have an inpatient Epilepsy Monitoring Unit which is part of a wellestablished Epilepsy Surgery program. The Division is supported by 10 Advanced Practice Nurses ketogenic dieticians and research coordinators. Faculty are involved in clinical and preclinical local and multiccenter research studies.

These are fulltime appointments and are Open rank (without tenure for reasons due to funding). The rank is commensurate with qualification and experience.

Assistant Professors areeligible for multiyear appointments that align with a 12month service period (July 1June 30. Faculty with 12month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12month period (JulyJune) meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The base salary range for this position in this title will be $18731 $19042 per month $224772 to $228504 per year) commensurate with experience discipline and qualifications or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Associate and Full Professorsholdindefinite appointments that align with a 12month service period (July 1June 30. Faculty with 12month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12month period (JulyJune) meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Faculty with 12month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12month period (JulyJune) meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. University of Washington faculty engages in teaching research and service. This position will require active participation in clinical and teaching programs and offer opportunities to participate in basic science and clinical research in epilepsy. The base salary range for this position in this title will be $21244 $24984 per month $254928 to $299808 per year) commensurate with experience discipline and qualifications or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Our salaries are bench marked based on the AAMC scale. Other compensation associated with this position may or may not include Startup Relocation Incentive/Moving Allowance Administrative supplement for a defined administrative role or Productivity Incentive.

Title rank and salary is commensurate with experience. The anticipated start date of this appointment is July 1 2025.



Requirements include:

  • M.D. D.O. or foreign equivalent degree
  • eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Washington
  • certification or eligibility for certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Neurology with Special Qualification in Child Neurology as well as in either
    • Clinical Neurophysiology or
    • Epilepsy.
  • In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H1B visa graduates of foreign (nonU.S. medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
