You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe School of Oceanography University of Washington is seeking applicants for a fulltime Research Associate Professor. This position is 100 FTE and has a 12month service period.Research Associate Professors are not tenureeligible. Research Associate Professors are term appointments for a period not to exceed five years. Renewal for an additional term shall be considered by the School of Oceanography and the College of the Environment in the final year of the appointment term. Faculty with 12month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12month period (July 1June 30 meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
All University of Washington faculty engage in research teaching and service. The primary responsibility for this position is to develop and fund a research program in the area of oceanographic flow cytometry. Additional responsibilities are to serve the Schools graduate program through student committees along with offering training and research opportunities and consultation as a data science expert. Undergraduate teaching responsibilities include the research mentorship of undergraduate seniors in formal course or laboratory settings and through less formal opportunities. Service to the School and College is additionally expected.
The base salary range for this position will be $9500$18000 per month commensurate with experience and qualifications or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Anticipated start date is February 16 2025.
Applicants must have a PhD (or foreign equivalent) in biological sciences at least five years experience at the senior research scientist level or higher (or equivalent) and at least two years experience at the research assistant professor level or higher (or equivalent). The applicant must have a successful track record in writing research grants and mentoring research by students at the graduate and undergraduate levels along with software development experience in R.
