Job Skills / Requirements

The Custodian performs assigned custodial tasks as it relates to that particular job location. This includes general cleaning (restroom offices cafeteria sales floor others as assigned) buffing scrubbing and ability to perform basic tasks of vacuum sweeping mopping and use of equipment such as scrubbers extractors and buffers.

EXPECTATIONS FOR SATISFACTORY JOB PERFORMANCE

  • Performs all general required tasks as directed by Lead Custodian or Supervisor
  • Uses floor machines for buffing stripping waxing vacuuming and carpet cleaning safely according to proper usage and as agreed to schedule with store/customer
  • Performs all tasks within proper safety guidelines company guidelines and as directed by management
  • Follows all company policies and procedures regarding safety customer service proper attire and working conditions such as hours and timekeeping
  • Performs assignments according to company schedule and as expected by customer
  • Wears uniform at required worksites
  • Performs janitorial/custodial tasks based on defined scope of work and customer requests. These are performed to published schedules and within explained guidelines. These tasks often include the following:
    • Empty wastebaskets and replace liner as needed
    • Dust/clean tops of office furniture desks and tables
    • Vacuum all carpeting
    • Spot clean soiled areas when needed
    • Clean and sanitize toilets basins and urinals
    • Clean counters mirrors and fixtures
    • Sweep and damp mop floor with disinfectant
    • Spot clean walls partitions and doors
    • Refill all restroom dispensers as needed
    • Wipe/clean all table tops and chairs
    • Wipe/clean vending machines and appliances
    • Clean sink and damp mop tile floors
  • This position may work nights early morning weekends and holidays
  • Follows oral and written instructions
  • Works effectively individually and with a team
  • Attends periodic training and safety meetings
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

Prefer a high school diploma or equivalent plus 12 years of experience in custodial janitorial or cleaning services.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS: REQUIRED & PREFERRED

Required Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of custodial duties and janitorial responsibilities
  • Knowledge of cleaning equipment including vacuuming sweeping mopping scrubbing and applying finishes on different flooring materials
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques and processes. Knowledge of the qualities and uses of various cleaning sanitizing stripping and waxing compounds
  • Experience in cleaning and sanitizing washrooms
  • Able to demonstrate importance of safety in the workplace follow safety rules practice safe work habits utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to appropriate Supervisor
  • Ability to follow directions and work within guidelines
  • Must be able to read understand and follow units of measure on product labels.
  • Satisfactory personal appearance and hygiene within company guidelines
  • Demonstrated ability of maintaining janitorial equipment in a clean safe and operable condition
Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to maintain janitor closets in a clean organized and safe manner and according to company guidelines and all regulations
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Able to read and communicate in English
  • Requires physical exertion to manually move lift carry pull or push heavy objects or materials up to 50 pounds
  • Repetitive motion involved on a daily basis may include but not limited to bending twisting pushing pulling reaching climbing and squatting
  • Ability to operate small power tools
  • Requires stooping kneeling crawling bending turning and reaching into areas not fully air conditioned
  • Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time to include climbing/descending stairwells and ladders
  • Can work independently and in stressful environments
  • Regular consistent and predictable attendance
  • Optional local area travel using personal vehicle. Approximately 10 of the time and will vary during the month and week.
  • May have responsibility to enter customer facilities that require background screening.

  • Realiza todas las tareas cumpliendo con las pautas de seguridad adecuadas las pautas de la compaa y segn las instrucciones de la gerencia
  • Cumple con todas las polticas y los procedimientos de la compaa con respecto a la seguridad el servicio al cliente la vestimenta adecuada y las condiciones de trabajo como el horario y el registro de horas
  • Realiza las tareas de acuerdo con el cronograma de la compaa y segn lo que espera el cliente
  • Usa el uniforme en los lugares de trabajo requeridos
  • Realiza tareas de limpieza/mantenimiento de conformidad con el alcance del trabajo definido y las solicitudes de los clientes. Estas se realizan segn los cronogramas publicados y en cumplimiento de las pautas explicadas. Estas tareas suelen incluir lo siguiente:
    • Vaciar cubos de basura y reemplazar las bolsas de ser necesario
    • Quitar el polvo/limpiar la superficie de muebles de oficina escritorios y mesas
    • Pasar la aspiradora en todas las alfombras
    • Sacar las manchas de las zonas que estn sucias cuando sea necesario
    • Limpiar y desinfectar inodoros lavabos y mingitorios
    • Limpiar mostradores espejos y accesorios
    • Barrer y pasar el trapeador hmedo con desinfectante en los pisos
    • Sacar las manchas de paredes divisores y puertas
    • Recargar los dispensadores de todos los baos segn sea necesario
    • Pasar el trapo/limpiar todas las superficies de las mesas y las sillas
    • Pasar el trapo/limpiar las mquinas expendedoras y los aparatos
    • Limpiar los lavabos y pasar el trapeador hmedo en los pisos de baldosas
  • Este puesto puede tener turnos nocturnos temprano en la maana fines de semana y feriados
  • Sigue las instrucciones orales y escritas
  • Trabaja de manera eficaz tanto en forma individual como en equipo
  • Asiste a las reuniones peridicas de capacitacin y seguridad

EDUCACIN Y CERTIFICACIONES

Se prefiere que tenga un diploma de escuela secundaria o equivalente ms 1 o 2 aos de experiencia en servicios de conserjera mantenimiento o limpieza.

HABILIDADES ADICIONALES: OBLIGATORIAS Y PREFERIDAS

Habilidades obligatorias:

  • Debe saber leer y ser capaz de entender y respetar las unidades de medicin en las etiquetas de los productos.
