Carpenter

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Supervisor Maintenance Services and uponreceipt of an electronic work order the Carpenter is responsible for andperforms a wide variety of duties related to including but not limited tothe repair maintenance installation and construction of the interior andexterior of school structures and other Board facilities school fixtures andequipment school grounds and associated items as they apply to the carpentrytrade to ensure that school buildings and Board facilities are in a properstate of repair.

• Possess a valid General Carpenter trade certificate issued by the Ontario Ministry of Training or an equivalent Canadian interprovincial license.
• Valid Full G Ontario Drivers License
• Minimum grade 12 secondary education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Three 3 years experience in general carpentry construction or related industry or minimum three 3 years experience in construction or maintenance of timber framed buildings.
• Good working knowledge and understanding of general carpentry building maintenance construction or related industry trades including rough carpentry finished carpentry and cabinet construction millwork or maintenance of timberframed buildings
• Sound knowledge of general construction codes and regulations.

This position falls under the CUPE Local 1483 Collective Agreement.
