Job Description
As the Musical Accompanist for the Theater and Dance Department you will work in cooperation with various dance faculty to provide piano and/or percussion accompaniment and musical guidance during dance technique modern and improvisation classes under minimal direction.
Typical duties include:
- Playing musical accompaniment for classes.
- Communication with faculty over course needs and cooperation with students and instructors for a smooth collaborative environment.
- Equipment set up and break down. Equipment maintenance.
- Improvise and perform music with appropriate rhythms and tempos by observing the movement of dancers.
- Prepare and be consistent and the studio.
- Ability to play piano or percussion instruments proficiently and follow musical direction.
- Ability to read musical notation.
- Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with students faculty and staff.

- Knowledge of methods and techniques of dance accompaniment
- Ability to learn ballet and contemporary terminology
