Duties And Responsibilities
The duties below are representative of the duties of the classification and are not intended to cover all of the duties performed by the incumbent(s) of any particular position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the scope of work is similar related or a logical assignment to this classification. 1. Teach guitar classes (e.g. Guitar IIV Guitar Ensemble IIV) as assigned from the regular Music Department curriculum 2. Consult with guitar students during regularly scheduled office hours 3. Teach applied music lessons to music majors that are majoring in guitar and preparing to transfer into a baccalaureate music major program 4. Perform other duties as required by contract collective bargaining agreement and general institutional needs. This includes participating in the assessment of student learning outcomes for assigned guitar courses 5. The Colleges offer day and evening classes
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a Masters or above in music OR Bachelors in music AND Masters or above in humanities OR the equivalent (see below) Demonstrated cultural competence sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural disability gender identity sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students faculty and staff
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated experience as a performer in various styles Additional expertise in one or several of the following areas: Intro to MIDI (ProTools/Logic) hip hop and/or world music Facility with Finale or Sibelius or other computer generated notation programs
