• POSITION SUMMARY
  • The SANE nurse will provide forensic nursing care to care to crime victims that present for assistance. The SANE nurse will follow hospital and state policy to provide compassionate and respectful care to any potential victim of a sexual . The duties of the SANE nurse include but are not limited to: assessment and documentation medication administration as appropriate to exam findings provides discharge and follow up care maintains legal chain of custody per ethical and legal standards. The SANE nurse will act as an advocate for the patient. Legal responsibility is required for possible testimony in case trial for exam.
• POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum Education
    • Graduate of a school of nursing.
    • 2 years of active nursing.
    • 40hour didactic study plus preceptorship.

    Required Registration/License/Certification
    • Registered nursing license.
    • SANE training upon hire or transfer.
    • BCLS for Healthcare providers required upon hire.

    • Two years of experience in emergency critical care OBGYN or community health nursing experience preferred.
