The Toronto Central South Regional Cancer Program is led by Ontario Health (previously Cancer Care Ontario) Regional Vice President (RVP) and funded by Ontario Health (OH). Regional Cancer Programs are networks of stakeholders healthcare professionals and organizations involved in cancer prevention and care across the province.  Based out of Princess Margaret Cancer Centre the Toronto Central South Regional Cancer Program works to support University Health Network Sinai Health System Womens College Hospital Unity Health Toronto and Humber River Health to continually improve access to care wait times and quality within the cancer system

The Regional Cancer Program is responsible for implementing provincial standards and programs for cancer care and ensuring service providers meet the requirements and targets set out in their partnership and funding agreements with Ontario Health.  The Regional Cancer Program also responds to local cancer issues coordinates care across local and regional healthcare providers and works to monitor cancer system performance through a series of quality metrics.

The Director of this program who reports to the Regional Vice President Ontario Health Toronto Central South is responsible for Toronto Central South Regional Cancer Program administration allocation planning new program development and quality improvement planning and implementation.  The Director will ensure the Regional Cancer Program including all appointed Regional Clinical Leads and member hospitals meet accountability agreements and performance targets as set out by Ontario Health.  In addition this role will act as the liaison advocate and as appropriate negotiator for the programs leadership and hospitals within Toronto Central South with Ontario Health. This position will work independently with high level direction by the Regional Vice President and will have an integral role in the distribution planning and allocation of funding from Ontario Health to the regional programs and hospitals. The Director uses sound judgement to escalate issues and/or negotiations to the RVP as appropriate for support.

The Director supports the executive team to be a successful leadership team and acts as the voice of the Regional Cancer Program within UHN tables regional committees and provincial groups under the leadership of the VP Cancer and Medical Director.  This position will also support leadership of the Toronto Central Indigenous Cancer Program. In this capacity the Director will work with a multitude of stakeholders to support local and community based education engagement and performance management to advance culturally safe care.


Qualifications :

  • Masters level education required such as Masters of Hospital Administration or recognized equivalent
  • Minimum ten 10 years progressive management experience
  • Minimum five 5 years of experience within the cancer system
  • Broad understanding of the health care system related issues and trends in oncology policies and legislation
  • Knowledge of health information systems and standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills             .
  • Demonstrated consulting negotiation skills strategic and critical thinking and change management skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse leadership management patients employee groups and individuals while modelling respect and civility
  • Demonstrated ability to actively incorporate patients as partners in relevant work of the portfolio
  • Demonstrated analytical and problemsolving skill
  • Evidence of project management experience
  • Excellent knowledge of quality improvement principles and practices
  • Ability to multitask effectively (i.e. to handle large numbers of diverse issues simultaneously) and time management skills
  • Ability to lead in situations of ambiguity
  • Experience in decision support analysis and resource utilization management processes
  • Knowledge of the Regulated Health Professions Act standards of professional practice and codes of ethics health care consent and ethical implications of care delivery
  • Strong track record of establishing external relationships
