Student Nurse Technician - PRN - MedSurg

The Student Nurse Technician under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) will provide highquality cost effective care to an individual or group of patients. Under the supervision of an RN the Student Nurse will perform a variety of delegated basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living which are tailored based on completed semesters in their academic program. Activities include taking and recording vital signs collection and transporting specimens performing hourly patient rounding participation in Bedside Shift Report assisting in the admission transfer and discharge processes performing Medication Reconciliation and educating patients on their plan of care disease process medications and discharge instructions. The Student Nurse may perform certain procedures validated in their clinical program under the direct supervision of an RN.

Minimum Education:

The Nursing Student must have completed one semester of clinicals and be enrolled in an accredited nursing program at the Associate or Bachelor level.

Experience with nursing fundamentals in lab and/or clinical setting as evidenced by completed nursing fundamentals skill checkoff.

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Required Skills:

Requires critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications is required (may be obtained the week of orientation)

Minimum Work Experience:

1 year of experience as a nurse assistant clinical services technician or other clinical position in a hospital setting is preferred.
