Role overview


Introduction to the role:


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Solicitor to join our successful health employment team based in London.

Joining a busy but growing employment team you will be given plenty of client responsibility but at the same time be part of a supportive team environment.

You will be a trusted member of the team and will work closely with the Partners to assist in the coordination of cases as well as the supervision of other team members.


You will have the opportunity to work as a part of a wider employment team which has a national presence.

The primary aim of the role is to support our health sector clients (primarily NHS) with the provision of highquality effective legal advice.



Key responsibilities:


  • Providing legal advice to a broad range of healthcare clients across the NHS primary care and private health sectors.
  • Undertaking all aspects of employment law advice including:
    • drafting employment contracts and associated documents and policies
    • advising on a widerange of employee relations issues such as disciplinary matters grievances managing sickness and performance dismissals redundancy/restructuring discrimination and whistleblowing
    • supporting clients in the defence of (often complex) employment tribunal claims
    • advising clients on familyfriendly obligations/rights
  • Transactional support including advice on the employment aspects of asset transfers (i.e. the application of TUPE) and share transactions.
  • Building and maintaining client and internal relationships adhering to both internal and external operating procedures.
  • Contributing to business development via article writing and client presentations.



What are we looking for:


Important criteria:


  • Qualified Solicitor or equivalent
  • Demonstrable experience of working as part of an employment team.
  • Ability in and experience of managing a caseload providing sound pragmatic advice.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • The ability to work independently and proactively.
  • Ability to adhere to guidelines and procedures.
  • Experience of client relationship management.
  • Flexibility in approach and a willingness to work outside normal office hours if required.


It would be beneficial for you to have some of the following:


  • Employment law experience within the health sector
  • Proven record of successful business development
