Job Description
NEEDED: Physician Assistant
LOCATION: 5880 State Hwy 67 South Florence Colorado 81290
SCHEDULE: 30 hours per week 5 days per week excluding Federal Holidays. Work hours will normally be between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. or between 6:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. These hours may be adjusted to meet the needs of the institution.
DURATION: 120 Workdays
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Hold an unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State.
- Must be certified by the NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician
- Assistants)
- Have at least one year of experience as a physician assistant or nurse practitioner.
- Be CardioPulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified in accordance with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
DUTIES:
- Provide diagnostic therapeutic and preventive health care services for the inmate
- Take medical histories examine patients and order and interpret laboratory tests and xrays
- Make a diagnosis provide treatment plans and prescribe medications
- Clinically manage injuries by suturing splinting and immobilizing
- Attend to medical emergencies
- Record progress notes recommend clinically necessary outside consultation instruct and counsel and order or carry out therapy
- Emergency consultation to be performed by the contractor in instances where deemed necessary. Perform minor surgery utilizing local anesthesia during consultation visits
- Work collaboratively with the staff physician(s) and consulting physician(s) in planning instituting evaluating and revising program plans
- Assists in determining conditions resources and policies essential to delivery of the health care services
- Discriminates between normal and abnormal findings to recognize early stages of serious physical emotional or mental problems
- Manages the daily operation of the clinic and conducts daily sick call; which may include securing health histories from the patient recording findings and providing clinical evaluations
- Provides a wide range of emergency services in the absence of the physician
- Responsible for receiving patients and explaining procedures to alleviate undue anxiety submitting reports and evaluations as requested.
