The Renal Dialysis Technician is responsible for providing patient care for patients receiving dialysis treatments. The Renal Dialysis Technician is responsible for providing direct patient care under the supervision of the RN and is responsible for the operation the dialysis equipment.
High school diploma or GED required.
Completion of a PCT training program or at least oneyear previous experience in hemodialysis required.
Experience in hemodialysis preferred. If an experienced dialysis technician CCHT certification is required at time of hire.
If no previous dialysis experience must have previous medical/surgical experience and dialysis certification must be obtained within 18 months from date of hire.
Additional Qualifications:
Credit for previous PCT MA or Phlebotomy experience given for those with internal experience only.
Must be psychologically suited to work with chronically ill patients
Must possess strong organizational skills.
Must demonstrate positive and professional interpersonal skills including the ability to cooperate with others.
Must demonstrate knowledge of basic computer skills.
This will include training for the electronic medical record (EMR) Internet Explorer and electronic timekeeping.
Must be able to flex hours to meet the demands of the clinical area or take call if required by the department.
Physical requirements as outlined by Employee Health Physical Assessment Form.
As we discussed this offer requires completion of your baccalaureate degree in nursing from an NLN or CCNE accredited program within the specified time frame outlined by your site. The formal agreement is attached for your reference.
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Certification required as a Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) or Clinical Hemodialysis Technician Advanced (CCHTA) through Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC) Board of Nephrology Examiners for Nurses and Technicians (BONENT) or Certified Clinical Nephrology Technician testing corporation within 18 months of hire.
