Job Description
Our Opportunity
- Adjunct faculty salary for thefiscal year is $1131.00 $1154.00 per credit hour as listed in theCBA(Download PDF reader).
South Puget Sound Community College seeks candidates for a 5credit parttime/adjunct position teaching early afternoon or evening courses in the Automotive Department. This position can start as early as September1 2025 but is subject to change pending enrollment and is renewed quarterly depending on enrollment and demand.
These positions are expected to have 8 hours of student contactfacing teaching hours per week.
The instructor should be able to teach and guide students in the diagnosis and repair of passenger cars and light trucks in both lecture and lab settings.As a reminderthe teaching assignments will be in the early afternoon or evening hours.This recruitment is open to all applicants who meet the minimum qualifications stated below. Applications received by the closing date will be used to create an applicant pool that may be used to fill similar vacancies at the College which may occur over the next 69 months.

- Serve on committees that support the shared governance of the college.
- Remain current with automotive trends and breakthroughs and incorporate them into the curriculum.
- Possess the knowledge to perform at a high skill level in all eight automotive service and repair areas.
- Demonstrate multicultural competence (including an awareness and understanding of historically disadvantaged populations) and create an educational and work environment that affirms a commitment to equity diversity and inclusion.
- Support the colleges mission by creating a work environment of mutual respect and fairness while encouraging creative and critical thinking.
- Contribute to the appreciation of diversity and foster a climate of multicultural understanding.
Qualifications You Possess
Minimum Qualifications
- Associates degree related to Automotive Technology orthree 3 years of recent industry experience in automotive technology
- Successful applicants will be required to obtain current ASE Certification within 90 days of hire including:
- ASE A6 Electrical/Electronic Systems Certification.
- ASE G1 Auto Maintenance and Light Repair Certification
- Ability to work an early afternoon or evening schedule
- Ability to provide and teach automotive skills automotive theory and operations and maintenance of automotive equipment in a structured lecture and lab environment
- A Washington State Professional Technical Vocational Certificate or ability to become vocationally certificated which requires at least two years of applicable experience within the last five years.
- Demonstrated experience or participation with persons from diverse backgrounds such as sexual orientation racial ethnic religious linguistic gender age socioeconomic physical and learning abilities and a commitment to an inclusive and equitable working/learning environment.
