As the Chief Underwriting Officer Specialty Americas you will embody these values lead the Americas Specialty and Underwriting unit be responsible for developing and executing on the Americas strategy for these segments while working with the regions other underwriting business leaders and partners and our Global Underwriting Office. This role has full P&L responsibility and reports directly to the CUO Americas as part of the Underwriting Leadership team in the Americas Region.

The CUO will oversee underwriting activities driving growth profitability and operational excellence within the division. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of specialty insurance lines robust leadership capabilities and a proven track record of driving underwriting performance in dynamic and competitive markets.

What will your essential responsibilities include

  • Lead and grow the Specialty Niche Aerospace and Marine underwriting team in the United States.
  • Develop and implement underwriting guidelines appetite and product strategies to enhance profitability expand market presence and meet customer needs.
  • Development and successful of a strategy that returns profitable growth in the segment by delivering on all four of our strategic drivers: solutions that matter most valued beyond the policy data that deepens relationships and focused fit & fast.
  • Coordinate/facilitate/lead new business renewals repricings restrictions special acceptances commutations and cancellations in determining risk acceptability & coverage in accordance with underwriting guidelines and authorities.
  • Optimize allocation of capacity across regions subproducts and client segments to highest margin opportunities.
  • Responsible for the use of and development of metrics that will enable underwriters to make better decisions regarding deployment of the firms capital.
  • Ensure adherence to the underwriting authorities and guidelines as approved; cascade/rescind Underwriting authority as needed throughout the product line.
  • Develop and execute on business financial and operational plans.
  • Develop and execute on a Regional strategy to meet the Specialty Aerospace and Marine needs of customers of all segments of the market.
  • Lead and promote a collaborative diverse and inclusive working environment.
  • Embody the AXA XL culture and act as a role model for all colleagues irrespective of organizational alignment.
  • Apply an understanding of worldwide risk exposures leading to refined terms & conditions and improved pricing and risk management.

You will report to the Head of Large Commercial Americas.
