Job Description
Job Title: Aerobics Instructor
Department: Ogden High/Ben Lomond High Pools
Hours:Vary
GENERAL PURPOSE
Responsible for providing water aerobics instruction monitors educates patrons on fitness and safety and maintains a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for class participants.
MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach scheduled classes beginning and ending on time; provides adequate warmup exercise stretching and cool down.
- Instruct patrons on effective workout methods; explains proper techniques demonstrates exercises; identifies different muscle groups and teaches appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscles.
- Prepare appropriate equipment music and handouts for each class.
- Assist patrons answers questions and maintains a positive exercise experience for members and class participants.
- Keep management informed of pool activities facility needs and significant problems.
- Ensure that safety standards are met and that department and facility policies are adhered to.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A High School Diploma or equivalent
- Six 6 months to one 1 year of related experience
- Red Cross CPR certification
- Red Cross Standard First Aid certification
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- The job frequently requires light physical exertion including walking standing sitting and talking; the employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger handle feel or operate objects tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms and occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop kneel crouch or crawl.
- Work is regularly carried out in agreeable conditions.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts pool mechanical systems and is occasionally exposed to wet and dry conditions fumes toxic or caustic chemicals.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally must aid in the rescue of drowning swimmers.
