Job Description

Job Title: Assistant Property Manager
Location: Washington D.C.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly organized and motivated Assistant Property Manager to support the daily operations of affordable housing communities in Washington D.C. This role plays a key part in assisting the Property Manager in ensuring compliance with local state and federal housing regulations maintaining a high standard of customer service and contributing to the smooth operation of the property. Ideal candidates will have experience or strong interest in affordable housing programs such as HUD LIHTC and Section 8.

Key Responsibilities:

Property Management & Operations:

  • Assist the Property Manager with daily property operations including tenant relations maintenance coordination and administrative tasks.
  • Help ensure the property remains in good physical condition and in compliance with housing codes and standards.
  • Participate in routine property inspections and assist with followup actions.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors as directed by the Property Manager.

Tenant Relations:

  • Serve as a point of contact for residents responding to inquiries concerns and maintenance requests.
  • Assist in enforcing lease agreements and community policies professionally and fairly.
  • Help plan and support resident events and communitybuilding initiatives.

Financial & Administrative Support:

  • Assist with rent collection tracking delinquencies and preparing deposit logs.
  • Support the preparation of operational and financial reports.
  • Help maintain property management records leasing documents and reports.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with onsite staff maintenance team and vendors to ensure effective communication and task completion.
  • Provide support in training and onboarding new staff as directed.
  • Promote a collaborative and respectful work environment.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associates or bachelors degree preferred.
  • 13 years of experience in property management or administrative support preferably in affordable housing.
  • Familiarity with HUD LIHTC and Section 8 programs is a plus.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Highly organized detailoriented and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Basic understanding of property management principles and compliance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Yardi RealPage or similar property management software preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Base Salary: $20 $22 per hour.
