The University of Southern Maine is looking for motivated and dependable team members who are committed to providing a clean and healthy environment for our are currently accepting applications for Facilities Maintenance Workers CL2 in our Custodial Services department on both the Portland and Gorham USM campuses. Our shifts are flexible with an opportunity to work either five 8hour shifts OR four 10hour shifts.

Pay for this position is $17.37/hour.

This is an essential position with the expectation that incumbents report to work on snow/storm days and other days when campus is closed.
Responsibilities:
- Cleanand disinfecta variety of areas on campus including restrooms breakrooms common areas and classrooms.
- Assistwith event setups and takedowns.
- Assistwith trash collection and disposal.
- Responsible for clearing snow at building entrances/maintaining clear entrances.
- Unlockand securebuildings.
- Reportmaintenance issues and equipment failures as appropriate.
- Providerecommendations for corrective action on areas that need improvement.
- Respondto customer concerns with efficiency and respect.
- Workeffectively and cooperatively with members of the Facilities Management team students faculty & staff external vendors and customers and the broader USM community.
- Provide guidance training and support to custodial team members.
- Other duties as reasonably assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D. or international degree equivalent.
- At least one year of custodial or janitorial experience.
- Effective communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently follow verbal and written instructions and safety procedures.
- With or without reasonable accommodation must be capable of lifting and carrying equipment and materials up to 50 pounds frequently and/or exert 20 pounds of force to move objects; and must be capable of standing for long periods of time and flexible enough for bending and reaching.
- Valid drivers license.
