Hours: 8:00am 3:30pm Monday through Friday when school is in session
Variable fulltime and parttime positions availablewith flexible scheduling.
Education:High School Diploma or High School Equivalency
Qualifications:Ability to work with a variety of student behaviors and educational needs in a
variety of educational settings primarily consisting of specialized special education classrooms. Ability to work as a team member demonstrates human relations skills and demonstrates effective communication skills.
A minimum of two years of experience supporting individuals with disabilities(e.g. autism emotionaldisturbance physical handicaps requiring personal cares) preferred.
Reports To:Supervising Teacher
Responsibilities:Assists students with disabilities in a variety of school settings including specialized classrooms under the supervision of teachers/related services personnel. Disabilities include autism emotional disturbance physical impairments intellectual disabilities adult transition 1821 years of age) and alternate settings (e.g. STEP Program). Responsibilities may include all or several of the following:
Performing the job duties of this position requires the following physical demands:lift fifty 50 lbs. occasionally additional occasional lifting less that 50 lbs. reaching standing walking carrying bending stooping kneeling crouching sitting and/or crawling.
The employee may encounter situations where students are physically aggressive and/or verbally abusive. This may require physical interaction (using strategies acquired through deescalation and restraint training) between the employee and student. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee may be exposed to infection at a greater risk than the average person. May be directly responsible for the safety wellbeing and/or output of students.
Full-Time
