You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry in Rochester NY is seeking a Cytopathologist. In addition to clinical responsibilities the position will have an academic component which may include translational or clinical research. Leadership opportunities could be available for interested experienced candidates. The anticipated rank is open commensurate with experience.
The Cytopathology Division at the University of Rochester annually evaluates 55000 GYN Pap tests 13000 NonGYN specimens including a diverse mix of body cavity fluids and fine needle aspirations and many interesting consult cases. There is a robust fine needle aspiration service throughout the hospital composed of approximately 2500 fine needle aspiration procedures. Immediate onsite evaluations are rendered for a range of procedures including endobronchial ultrasound guided fine needle aspirations (EBUS) endoscopic ultrasound guided fine needle aspirations CTguided fine needle aspirations ultrasound guided fine needle aspirations and fine needle aspirations of palpable lesions. In addition we have various special interactive programs for cytopathologists including real time intraoperative evaluations with thoracic surgeons and ultrasound guided fine needle aspirations performed by cytopathologists.
The University of Rochester Medical Center is a highly collegial environment with many opportunities for collaboration particularly with investigators in the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center. This is a very active oncologic service with expertise in many types of solid tumors. The successful candidate will actively participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team in the diagnosis and treatment of solid tumors. The Wilmot Cancer Center Institute also has a strong research program that promotes collaboration in basic translational and clinical programs for investigators.

Candidates must have completed medical school having an MD MDPhD or equivalent as well as have completed cytopathology fellowship training and be board certified/eligible for NYS license. Candidates would join the faculty at the Assistant or Associate Professor level commensurate with the candidates experience.
