Job Description

River Oaks Baptist School is seeking a dynamic and innovative educator to join our team as a Lower School Teacher Assistant beginning August 2025.

The Teacher Assistant supports the lead gradelevel teacher in all aspects of teaching approximately 18 students in selfcontained classrooms. In Kindergarten the Teacher Assistant supports one classroom; in first grade the Teacher Assistant rotates among five classrooms. Content areas include language arts mathematics social studies science and character development. Each Lower School Teacher Assistant is an integral part of the gradelevel team that plans and works closely together. Lower School special area teachers provide instruction in art Bible computer library music Spanish theater and makerspace. This position reports to the Head of Lower School.

All Lower School faculty are supported by an experienced divisional team devoted to developing both students and faculty including a counselor learning specialists reading specialists instructional coaches an assistant division head a division head Associate Head of School for Academics and the Associate Head of School for Student Support.

As with all faculty openings we seek candidates eager to support our mission of preparing students to meet lifes challenges and lead tomorrows world through a superior educational program undergirded by faith in Jesus Christ and Christian principles.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the lead teacher in either one Kindergarten classroom or five first grade classrooms
  • Model and guide students in Christlike values and character development
  • Employ current pedagogies including projectbased learning and design thinking
  • Deliver innovative curriculum that integrates technology intentionally and appropriately
  • Embrace lifelong learning and a growth mindset for adults and students alike
  • Participate collaboratively in gradelevel divisional and allschool teams
  • Develop and practice cultural competence in teaching and teamwork
  • Communicate effectively with parents and colleagues both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm energy initiative and selfreflection
  • Motivate engage and differentiate to support all students
  • Delight in teaching children in the elementary school years

Qualifications:

  • A vibrant Christian faith and a desire to work in a Christian environment
  • A bachelors degree
  • Teaching certification for the gradelevel applying
  • Two years fulltime teaching or teaching assistant experience preferred
  • Successful completion of background checks and verification
