Interventionist Job Description Sparta Elementary School
Position: Elementary/Middle School Interventionist
FLSA Status: Salary/Exempt (NC Teacher Pay Schedule)
License Status: Most hold or be eligible to hold a NC Educators License
Start Date: August 2025 10month position)
End Date: Position Effectiveness Evaluated Yearly
Reports To: School Administration Superintendent
Description:
An elementary/middle school interventionist provides targeted individualized instruction and support to students struggling academically collaborating with teachers and parents to develop and implement effective interventions and monitor student progress. A qualified person for this position must be willing to work with small groups of students throughout their day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Willingness to Work With Students:
- A qualified applicant must have a demeanor that is studentcentered and be willing to work with students for their entire workday (will have a planning time). Students are our main focus.
- Assess and Identify Needs:
- Identify students who are struggling academically and determine the specific areas where they need support.
- Develop and Implement Interventions:
- Design and implement individualized or smallgroup interventions based on student needs and data.
- Provide Instruction:
- Deliver targeted instruction to students focusing on specific skills and concepts.
- Monitor Progress:
- Regularly monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed using data to inform instruction.
- Collaborate with Others:
- Work closely with teachers parents and other professionals to ensure students receive the support they need.
- Maintain Records:
- Keep accurate records of student progress interventions and assessments.
- Supervise students:
- Ensure students are supervised in classrooms and other settings at all times
- Classroom Management:
- Employ suitable classroom management techniques
- Referrals:
- Collaborate with parents to refer children to psychologists and other therapists and to link them with recommended services
- IEP Compliance:
- Comply with Individualized Education Programs (IEP)
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of student development and learning processes.
- Ability to assess student needs and develop effective interventions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers parents and other professionals.
- Knowledge of databased decisionmaking and progress monitoring.
- Patience empathy and a positive attitude.
- Must be willing to attend required training(s) as required.
- Must be willing to perform all of the duties and responsibilities typically required of teachers.
- A bachelors degree in education or a related field is typically required.
