Job Description

The Jr. Counselors will collaborate with the WonderKids Counselors Activity Specialists Coordinators Managers and the Executive Director to ensure all children in the program are safe and successful. Jr Counselors have the privilege of doing life with the campers forming relationships based on trust and respect and helping the campers to have the best experience possible. Jr Counselors should expect to work hard and be fully present and involved in the program. They will get dirty and wet and muddy and painty and be on their feet for hours at a time. Jr. Counselors will be tired at the end of the day but they will also have the best opportunity to make an amazing impact on the kids in our program. Responsibilities:Clearly communicate; understand instructions or ask for clarificationyour supervisors dont know what you dont know unless you tell them!Help create a welcoming and supportive environment for allFollow through in ALL aspects of the WORK including preparation set up cleanup and debrief as directed by your supervisorsSet a positive example by embracing ALL aspects of the camp experience whether chores or weather or schedule changes or enrichment activitiesSupervision of children for safety during the program including frequent counting and checkins and behavior guidance and feedbackDuties:Assisting with snack preparation distribution and food count reportingHelping children be safe respectful and responsibleHelping children engage with the activities and the environmentHelping children transition to each new activityHelping the children understand activities be kind to each other and manage themselves to be able to enjoy the programMoving supplies carting materials and food setting up spaces being available for any task assignedFollowing instructions from Counselors Activity Experts and Coordinators in implementing restorative discipline practicesChecking email regularly during nonwork hours for communication about programming Contacting Site Admin Coordinator ASAP if you are sick or an emergency comes up and you cant be at your scheduled time for the programParticipating in and/or completing staff reflection sheets to capture information for fund reporting requirements and also aid in the improvement of the programOther duties as assigned
