Job Description

The following vacancy exists in the Operations Department. Applications are being accepted from those who meet the selection protocol for Operations1st Assistant Engineer Class 6

Hours: 3:30 PM 12:00 AM
Salary: $21.31


Required:

  1. Four years of custodial experience.
  2. Two years of leadership experience.

Internal Applicants are subject to the following criteria:
Standard Interview selection process will apply for this posting. Not all qualified candidates are guaranteed an interview.

  • Fulltime employee has been working for 12 months prior to the job posting date.
  • Must have ten 10 days or fewer of family/personal sick leave.
  • Sick leave will be calculated based on the 12 previous months from the posting date for all employees.
  • Authorized Unpaid Leave of Absences will not be taken off the record
  • All authorized FMLA leave (paid or unpaid) will be taken off the record
  • All authorized Workers Comp (paid or unpaid) will be taken off the record
  • Must not have any no call/no show incidents during the past 12 months from the posting date.
  • Must not have any unauthorized time during the past 12 months from the posting date.
  • Must be in an active paid status from the beginning of the will be considered by the Director of Personnel.
  • Evaluation: composite score of meets or better on the most recent staff must have one evaluation on no evaluation is on file by the end of the previous academic year it will be considered a meets evaluation.
  • Discipline: no formal discipline during the past 12 months from the posting date for all employees.
  • Seniority: if two or more employees have relatively equal qualifications the employee with the greater seniority within the department or classification (depending on the position) will be given first consideration. Exceptions regarding department or classification seniority will be considered by the Director of Personnel.

TITLE: Operations Engineer 1st Assistant Class 6 (Custodian)

HIRING SPECIFICATIONS:


Required:

  1. Four years of custodial experience.
  2. Two years of leadership experience.
  3. Certified Pool Operations license in buildings with swimming pool or ability to obtain the license within 120 days of job assignments.

Skills Knowledge and Abilities:

  1. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  2. Working knowledge and proficiency in the use of a computer and Microsoft Office tools.
  3. Practical working knowledge of good housekeeping practices and procedures.
  4. Ability to present a professional appearance and demeanor.
  5. Ability to demonstrate good judgment and promote spirit of cooperation with others.

BASIC FUNCTION:Serve as assistant to chief in assigned facilities. Responsibilities may include coordinating staff schedule maintaining inventories and supplies conducting basic building safety inspections providing basic maintenance and repair to equipment and building facilities; and performing duties of lower level staff. This position requires continuous use of independent judgment. The essential functions as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the operations department.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assume responsibility of Operations Engineer Chief during the Chiefs absence.
  2. Assist Operations Engineer Chief or Custodial Specialist in maintaining the facility and/or facilities.
  3. Provide direction and supervision to custodial staff assigned to building or facility.
  4. Respond promptly to the needs of building administrator for night and day activities in the facility.
  5. Assist the director of custodial services and custodial specialists in the annualperformance evaluation of subordinate employees.
  6. Perform all cleaning tasks required to maintain the facility.
  7. Communicate with operations staff to ensure facility is properly heatedventilated and maintained during night or day activities.
  8. Provide leadership to ensure facility is secured each night to prevent lostof or damage to property or failure of mechanical equipment.
  9. Carry out all policies and procedures as set forth for building personnel in operations.

  1. Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
  2. Maintain confidentiality.
  3. Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public students and other employees.
  4. Assist with other duties as may be assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Constant standing and walking. Frequent bending stooping reaching pushing pulling. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs and carrying up to 10 ft.

WORKING CONDITIONS:Frequent inside outisde and exposure to extremes of temperature/humidity
