Job Summary
Summary
Responsible for managing aspects of the laboratorys operations and ensuring that the department is meeting quality standards and regulatory requirements. Specializes in the diagnosis and study of diseases by examining tissues cells and bodily fluids.
Essential Functions
Ensures that programs policies and procedures are established and implemented to meet customer needs department standards and regulatory agency requirements.
Determines staffing needs and practices of the department to optimize utilization of personnel.
Provides leadership and technical direction to staff in acheivement of laboratory objectives.
Manages the operations and services delivery of assigned areas of responsibility for the laboratory.
Collaborates with other healthcare providers such as physicians nurses and other laboratory professionals to ensure that laboratory is providing highquality services that meet the needs of patients.
Ensures patient safety and maintaining a safe environment in the laboratory.
Consults with physicians and other healthcare professionals to discuss diagnoses and treatment options.

ExperienceExperience within Anatomic Pathology lab 57 years required and
Experience working in an academic medical center setting 35 years preferred
Knowledge Skills & AbilitiesDemonstrate efficient knowledge of all equipment operation tools and procedures specific to assigned area and effectively troubleshoot issues as they arise.
Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal professional relationships with physicians supervisor direct reports peers patients and their families.
Knowledge of laboratory management best practices quality assurance techniques and test development and interpretation.
Ability to analyze data draw conclusions and interpret results.
Ability to supervise mentor train and evaluate work results of employees.
