At BlueOval SK we will lead the transformation of the electric vehicle (EV) battery business through a partnership (Joint Venture formed by Ford and SK On) to provide products and processes to increase our customers the future of BlueOval SK you will help lead the battery revolution by working alongside our teams as we build the batteries required for electric vehicle business excellence.

Ford and SK On are investing billions in Kentucky and Tennessee including building three stateoftheart battery manufacturing facilities between the two campuses at BlueOval City in Tennessee and BlueOval SK Battery Park in Kentucky. These brandnew advanced manufacturing facilities will use Fords 100 years of automobile manufacturing expertise and SK Ons 30 years of electric vehicle battery expertise to become the worlds best battery manufacturer.

The Manager Occupational Safety(LL6 position at the Tennessee Battery Plant in Stanton Tennessee will have a unique onceinalifetime opportunity to be a key member of the startup team launching the facility from ground up.

The BlueOval SK Manager Occupational Safety is accountable for the performance and results of the Occupational Safety team. The role ensures the administration of plantwide safety processes emergency response planning and compliance with regulations with consistency in a timely manner. The role closely partners with Health & Safety leadership to address complex general and occupational safety issues and collaborates with various departments. The role also supervises the maintenance of accurate documentation administration of investigations inspections and root cause analyses. The role has expertise in interpreting and administering corporate health and Safety policies Safety regulations and best practices analyzing trends and providing guidance to contribute to the companys overarching effort to prevent employee injuries and illnesses and the elimination of hazards in the work environment. The role has limited to full management authority for staffing performance discipline pay decisions team development and other personnel actions.



Responsibilities

What youll do

  • Interprets and administers company policies and conducts programs related to risk assessment hazard identification incident investigations inspections audits safety culture and engagement etc. to prevent accidents and hazards at the workplace.
  • Manages plant and facilitywide safety processes and initiatives including the companys Safety Operating System (SOS) emergency response planning and training and offstandard approvals with consistency in a timely manner. Ensures compliance with federal state and local safety laws regulations and corporate policies through collaboration with the plant and network medical security functions.
  • Distributes and assigns tasks to the regional and facility Occupational Safety team serves as a primary point of contact for regular inspections and audits to identify and assess workplace hazards review new equipment for safety concerns develop activity hazard analysis complete preventive maintenance procedures etc. and guides the regional and facility Occupational Safety team on accident prevention plans and associated processes procedures and standards.
  • Manages completion and timely submission of regional and plantspecific entry forms (as applicable) and physical plant entry for all projects ensuring personnel have current safety training drug tests and any other plantrequired training before plant site arrival.
  • Develops and monitors KPIs for tracking safety incidents injury statistics corrective actions training hours resolution time etc. to ensure a safe and hazardfree working environment develops internal reports for senior Health and Safety management Legal & Compliance and onsite facility/plant management teams and presents trends improvement opportunities and other key findings. Oversees the maintenance of accurate records and documentation related to occupational safety matters in line with established policies and compliance requirements.
  • Leads the administration of departmentspecific ergonomics training general and fire safety trainings machinery and equipment safety trainings at plant locations energy control and power lockout root cause analysis new hire orientation management safety training etc. Conducts assessment to identify the need for new training programs and administers the same. Provides guidance and support to managers with respect to general and occupational safetyrelated queries.
  • Communicates effectively with statutory authorities regulatory bodies and corporate representatives and resolves safety issues and risks highlighted by other functions and external safety auditors/ consultants and coordinates with these stakeholders to design appropriate precautionary measures to prevent their recurrence anticipates operational roadblocks and develops facility/plant specific safety and loss control programs and processes for seamless implementation.
  • Participates in the delivery of global regional and facility Occupational Safety specific communication standards and practices related to occupational safety including general safety fire prevention machine and equipment safety electrical safety first aid administration etc. to encourage the adoption of Corporate Health and Safety practices focused on incidence avoidance and regulatory compliance.
  • Reviews and updates Occupational Safety policies to ensure compliance with relevant laws and with corporate safety policies communicated effectively to relevant stakeholders and consistently enforced.
  • Performs talent management responsibilities including performance management professional development succession planning disciplinary action terminations recruitment pay decisions and other personnel actions.


Qualifications

Youll have

  • Bachelors Degree or Masters Degree (preferred) in Occupational Health & Safety Safety/Health Sciences or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience with a Masters degree or 8 years of work experience with a Bachelors degree preferably in Occupational Safety or a related field.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Certified Safety Professional (Preferred)
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (Preferred)

Work Requirements:

  • Involves frequent (defined as one to twothirds of the time) lifting of more than 10 to 25 pounds. Work performed requires a good deal of walking or standing and may include some sedentary work and working conditions that include moderate noise levels related to the use of office equipment or machinery. May involve exposure to varying outside temperatures.
